Kami is the 2nd novel by P.J. Leonard, available September 1st 2015. Inspired by his experiences of living in the deep Japanese countryside for two years, 'Kami' is a story drenched in the flavours, sights and smells of a timeless Japan.
What's it about?
The small and sleepy town of Namerikawa is gearing up for the biggest event of the year - the Namerikawa Festival, to honour the local Kami (God). The whole town is excited about it - all except one boy, Hayato Takei, who finds the creaky old traditions dull and pointless.
On the day of the festival, Hayato takes matters into his own hands to make things a bit more exciting. Except...things get a little too exciting, and it ends in absolute disaster. Disgraced, Hayato is sent on a mission to beg forgiveness from the Kami. But as events unfold and surprises reveal themselves, it turns out there may be more to this mission than Hayato ever believed possible...
